Poetry Entry #2: Simon

An old poem about a kind old fellow I once knew…

Simon

Simon the cat,
I see you in your grey coat
Traipsing through the snow
And up to each doorstep.

You carry your head high
And tread with deliberate steps
To visit the old friends you know.
But no one opens the door to you.

Weary creature,
You refuse to be disheartened
And you sit on the pavement
And watch the sunset.
